Spanish artist Almudena Romero has gained recognition for her plant-based art. Her unique technique involves printing photos directly onto plants, using sunlight or a digital projector. In her series titled “The Pigment Change,” Romero prints photos on watercress by projecting negatives onto the leaves. The result is a mix of dark green tones and paler areas, similar to a photographic darkroom process. Romero’s love for plants stems from her childhood experiences on her grandparents’ avocado farm. She believes they hold valuable lessons, such as their ability to adapt and survive without causing extinction. Romero’s work challenges consumerism and promotes eco-friendly art.
